“Emmerdale will finally reveal who killed Ray Walters through flashback scenes, showing the events of his final day and how his body ended up in Jai Sharma’s van.”

Emmerdale villain Ray Walters, played by Joe Absolom, was recently murdered, and the ITV soap is set to finally reveal the identity of his killer through flashback scenes.
A special week of episodes will gradually uncover who was responsible for Ray’s death, following his exposure as a drug-dealing people trafficker who ran a slavery operation from Butler’s Farm. Episodes airing Monday (January 19), Tuesday (January 20), and Wednesday (January 21) focus on the main suspects: Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock). On Thursday (January 22), viewers will see the events of Ray’s final day and the circumstances surrounding the murder of his adoptive mother and criminal partner, Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths).
During Thursday’s episode, fans will follow the murder suspects before a montage recaps key plot points. After killing Celia, Ray is shown standing over her body, stunned and grief-stricken. He collects himself, wipes the knife clean of fingerprints, and takes a distinctive red sports bag before heading upstairs to Bear Wolf’s (Joshua Robert) room.
Ray struggles to face Bear’s lifeless feet, shedding a tear for his father figure, but quickly regains control of his emotions. Despite his broken state, he threatens Eve Dingle (Bella James) to keep Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) silent. Outside the Village Hall, a furious Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) snatches Ray’s red holdall. Laurel is shocked when her son returns with the bag, leading to a confrontation over the drugs inside.
In the aftermath of Ray’s death, his corpse is bundled into Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) depot van, but a slip-up means Jai unknowingly drives the body away. Fans will have to wait to see whether Ray’s killer comes forward or continues to hide in plain sight.
Reflecting on his exit, Joe Absolom said:
“It’s been a really positive experience, and I’ll definitely get the blues leaving. Emmerdale has been such a lovely place to work, and I’m going to miss it. As a jobbing actor, the fear of what comes next is always there, but as I’ve got older, I feel like I’ve earned a bit of karma, and I know I’ll be alright.”
