Emmerdale showed more troubling scenes with John Sugden and Kev Townsend in Friday’s Boxing Day episode
Emmerdale featured the explosive return of murderer John Sugden in its Christmas Day episode.
Viewers will remember that John, the ex-husband of Aaron Dingle, was presumed on the run after his crimes in the village were uncovered.
John was responsible for Nate Robinson’s death and had terrorized several villagers, including an attempt on Mackenzie Boyd’s life. After his misdeeds were exposed, he fled the village.
However, in Thursday’s Christmas Day episode, it was revealed that John had returned and was holding Robert Sugden’s ex-husband, Kev Townsend, hostage.
During Friday’s Boxing Day episode, Kev tried to escape but collapsed due to his heart condition. When he returned home, John discovered him on the floor and helped save his life.
By the end of the episode, Kev was left uncertain about John’s motives and why he chose to save him, as his future took a sinister turn. Kev questioned him: “Why did you bother?”
John replied: “What can I say? It’s Christmas. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Oh, wait… you are my new plan A.”
He outlined his intentions, saying: “Jealous ex with a violent past, kills her husband in a crime of passion. It has a certain… appeal.”
Kev responded: “I take it you do the killing for me?” to which John quipped: “You catch on quickly!”
John went on: “Then you’re discovered, having turned the gun on yourself. A tidy little note explaining everything. Star-crossed lovers. Romeo and Juliet. And then I swoop in to save Aaron.”
Kev quickly warned: “Unless, of course, I stop you…”
John threatened: “Are we still doing this? You don’t need to act tough with me. I’ve saved your life, so I figure you owe me. I want you ready for action, eat…”
The episode ended with John attempting to feed Kev a sandwich, which Kev spat back in his face before smirking. Has Kev’s fate been sealed, or will he find a way to stop John?
