An actor who played a villain in the ITV soap has landed a film role

Former Coronation Street star Emrhys Cooper has secured a role in a major movie following his exit from the ITV soap.
The actor made waves on the cobbles in 2024 with his chilling portrayal of cult leader Rowan Cunliffe, and he has now moved on to the big screen. Emrhys is set to appear in the film Caught by Love, starring alongside Hollywood names Rachel Leigh Cook and Luke MacFarlane.
Taking to Instagram to share the movie’s poster, Emrhys teased fans about the upcoming project. He wrote: “Come take a trip with us. So excited to share Caught by Love, coming soon to @hallmarkchannel. Dig this poster artwork featuring our two incredibly talented leads @therachelleighcook and @lukemacfarlane.”
The actor, who recently posted a photo showing a dramatic change from his Coronation Street look, has not revealed details about his character. However, a synopsis for Caught by Love explains that the story follows a resort guest on a journey of self-discovery who becomes entangled in an undercover investigation into stolen jewels — leading to an unexpected and adventurous romance.

US actress Rachel first rose to fame in the 1990s, starring in hits such as The Baby-Sitters Club and She’s All That, while Luke is best known for his role in the popular series Brothers & Sisters.
Meanwhile, Emrhys, 40, recently shared an Instagram photo taken in Los Angeles, showing him standing on a hill in shorts as he gazed out across the city. Captioning the image, he wrote: “Dream big. Hike higher. Thanks, LA.”
The actor made his Coronation Street debut in early 2024, portraying Rowan, the leader of the shadowy organisation known as The Institute. His character wreaked havoc in Weatherfield, particularly targeting Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), whom he attempted to manipulate into joining the group.
Rowan also tried to con several residents out of their money, with Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) among those caught in his sights. However, his schemes were eventually exposed, and he was charged with blackmail and fraud.
