Emmerdale’s Chloe Harris was referenced in Friday’s Boxing Day episode of the ITV soap
Emmerdale revisited the past in Friday’s Boxing Day episode as it shared an update on Chloe Harris and her son, Reuben.
Chloe first arrived in the ITV soap in 2021 as the sister of Gemma Harris, who had donated her heart to Sarah Sugden following a transplant.
Viewers later learned that Chloe’s father was dangerous gangster Damon, and that she shared a close bond with Kerry Wyatt, who had worked as the family’s housekeeper and acted as a maternal figure in Chloe’s life.
In a dramatic twist, it was eventually revealed that Kerry was actually Chloe’s biological mother, with Damon and his wife Karen having adopted Chloe as a baby.
During her time in the village, Chloe was involved in several explosive storylines, including her affair with Mack Boyd, which led to her pregnancy and the birth of her son, Reuben.
In 2023, Chloe’s criminal father Damon kidnapped Mack, leading to a tense struggle as Charity attempted to disarm him and save Mack. During the confrontation, Charity accidentally shot and killed Damon.
When the police arrived, Chloe told Mack she would say that Charity had acted in self-defence, but only if he agreed to give up custody of Reuben and let her move to France with their son.
Although reluctant at first, Mack eventually agreed for Charity’s sake, allowing Reuben to leave with Chloe and leaving him heartbroken over losing his son. Chloe and Reuben departed the ITV soap on 26 December 2023.
Two years after her exit from Emmerdale, Chloe actress Jessie Elland has moved away from acting and into writing. Earlier this year, Jessie revealed that she had released her debut novel.
Sharing the news on Instagram, the actress-turned-author wrote: *“My debut novel is officially out in the world, and publication day was marked with a very special launch event at The Bound.
“Thank you so much to the fantastic team at @forumbookscorbridge, to @askhfwriter for her brilliant chairing skills and calming pre-launch chats, and of course to everyone who attended and showed such wonderful support while asking such insightful and exciting questions.
“None of this would have been possible without the incredible work of the team at @baskervillejmp, and I feel extremely lucky to have them as my publishers.”*
Jessie’s novel, The Ladie Upstairs, was released on 22 May 2025. The synopsis reads: “Scullery maid Ann dreams of becoming a lady’s maid. She can’t quite recall how or when she arrived at the imposing Ropner Hall, but she despises spending her days labouring away in the gloomy kitchen.”
“When a chance encounter with Ropner’s Lady Charlotte offers Ann the chance to become her personal maid, she believes she has finally escaped her own personal hell. But has she? As Ann’s new life upstairs begins to take a darker turn, could the horrors she faces prove even worse than the demons she left behind below?”
And it appears there is more writing to come, as Jessie recently told her 19.2K Instagram followers: “I travelled to France for my very first writing residency and returned with a completed manuscript, new friendships, endless inspiration, and a deeper understanding of my creative process.”
