General Hospital spoilers and updates tease that while 2025 delivered plenty of jaw-dropping moments, 2026 is shaping up to be even bigger — packed with high-stakes drama, intense suspense, and shocking twists. Head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten recently offered fans an inside look at what’s coming next in Port Charles.
Drew’s Shooter Exposed, Maxie’s Return, and Dangerous Showdowns Ahead
A detailed preview of upcoming storylines confirms that the mystery surrounding who shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will finally be solved. The preview also teases the return of Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) kidnapping, and several other explosive developments, according to a new interview with TV Insider.
Surprising partnerships are already taking shape, including Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) joining forces with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to bring down WSB director Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), who also happens to be Carly’s romantic partner.
Still, Valentin has a major vulnerability — his daughter, Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke). The looming question is whether Brennan will exploit this weakness, potentially with deadly consequences.
Korte and Van Etten hinted that Valentin’s deep connection to Charlotte could ultimately cost him his life. Meanwhile, Brennan isn’t operating alone; he has an undercover accomplice in Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). However, the writers caution that as Nina’s secret involvement continues, the personal price she pays may become unbearable.
Laura and Sonny Join Forces Against Sidwell
Although Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) typically stand on opposite sides of the law — with Laura serving as mayor and Sonny ruling the mob — they are now united by a shared enemy: Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).
Sidwell is currently blackmailing Laura with incriminating photos that tie her to the murder of Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard), forcing her into an increasingly dangerous corner.
The writers revealed that taking Sidwell down will be no simple task, warning that any success will come at a significant cost. They also teased that Laura will resort to “extreme actions” to protect her husband, Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), and her grandson, Ace Cassadine (Kieran and Karis Barry), from becoming casualties of Sidwell’s ruthless schemes.

Marco’s Revenge, Lucas at Risk, and Michael’s Complications
Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo) is growing increasingly frustrated with his father, Sidwell, as his desire for revenge against Sonny Corinthos intensifies over the death of his mother, Natalia Ramirez (Eva LaRue). Marco is eager to move quickly, and that urgency could put Sonny — and Marco’s relationship with Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) — in serious danger.
Head writers Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte explained, “Marco’s impatience pushes him to bypass Sidwell entirely in his pursuit of Sonny.”
Meanwhile, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) is relying on Jacinda Bracken (Paige Herschell) to help keep him out of prison. Jacinda provided Michael with an alibi in the shooting of Drew Cain, and as they spent time together, genuine feelings began to develop between them.
However, the writers caution that Jacinda’s upcoming testimony at Willow Cain’s (Katelyn MacMullen) trial could unravel everything. If it’s revealed that she lied about Michael’s alibi, it may be the undoing of them both.
Kai and Trina Crack the Case — But Will They Stay Silent?
The question of who shot Drew has dominated Port Charles for months, and answers are finally on the way. Willow was arrested for the shooting of the congressman she later married, but the mystery doesn’t end there.
According to Korte and Van Etten, amateur sleuths Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Kai Taylor (Jens Austin Astrup) will uncover the truth behind Drew’s shooting as the storyline reaches its climax during Willow’s trial.
Their discovery promises shocking consequences. The writers teased that “what they choose to do with this information will stun viewers.” They also warned that the jury’s verdict — and its aftermath — will have long-lasting repercussions, impacting not only Willow but also Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante), who may suffer regardless of the outcome.
Jason and Britt Face Feelings — and a Blizzard
Romance will take center stage in 2026, but true love won’t come easily. Korte and Van Etten confirmed that Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will finally acknowledge their mutual attraction — only to be immediately tested.
Britt attempts to bury her feelings because of the danger surrounding her situation, especially with Sidwell’s associate looming as a threat. However, being snowed in together during a blizzard may make denying those emotions impossible.
Lulu’s Emergency, Maxie Awakens, and an Unexpected Bond
A crisis involving Charlotte Cassadine sends Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) seeking help from Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) in the new year. When Charlotte goes on the run due to Valentin’s fugitive status, Nathan steps in to help Lulu track her down — leading to an unexpected and emotional moment.
Complications arise when Lulu begins developing feelings for Nathan, unaware that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is about to wake from her four-month coma.
Van Etten and Korte confirmed, “Maxie returns in 2026,” adding that she’ll awaken to a life that looks drastically different. With no knowledge that Nathan is alive — or that he and Lulu share chemistry — Maxie’s return is bound to ignite major drama.
Trouble for Chase and Brook Lynn, Plus Portia’s Paternity Dilemma
Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) have managed to steer clear of the chaos surrounding his attempt to clear Willow’s name. But with Chase now suspended from the PCPD and clashing with Michael, their once-stable home life begins to crack.
Korte and Van Etten revealed that Brook Lynn will start voicing concerns about their plans to start a family, signaling trouble ahead.
Elsewhere, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) grows closer to Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) while pressing pregnant Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) to take a paternity test. Though Portia resists, her bond with Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) — one of the potential fathers — continues to deepen.
Scorpio Family Trauma Ahead
While the residents of Port Charles remain unaware, viewers know the truth: Anna Devane is being held captive at Wyndemere. The writers revealed that Anna’s situation worsens when she hears “a voice from her past.” Though Anna attempts a daring escape, her captors have a contingency plan in place.
When Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner), Mac Scorpio (John J. York), and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) come together to rescue Anna, the outcome may not be what they expect.
Van Etten and Korte warned, “What follows will be traumatic for the Scorpios.” They offered no specifics — and also teased the eventual offscreen death of Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).
Quartermaine Revenge and Charlotte’s Dark Turn
So far, Drew Cain has avoided consequences for leaving Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) to die during his heart attack. That’s about to change. Once the truth surfaces, Drew will find himself back in the Quartermaine firing line.
“Tracy Quartermaine [Jane Elliot] wants to take Drew down — but she’ll have to wait her turn,” the writers joked.
The fallout will also affect Port Charles’ younger generation. Korte and Van Etten revealed that Charlotte may fully embrace her Cassadine instincts following a betrayal.
Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) steps in to support her, channeling his father Jason’s loyalty, while Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) becomes the center of new turmoil — setting off events that lead to one resident leaving town and severe consequences for others.
