General Hospital spoilers say Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) and Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) struck up a surprisingly friendly rapport for the first time this week.
There’s definitely a “catching up by the watercooler” energy between them at work. In fact, Isaiah may be even more tuned into hospital gossip than Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr). And speaking of Portia, she returned to work this week, which means more shared scenes with Isaiah — and that could make it harder for him to hide what’s really going on beneath the surface.
To be clear, it’s not lingering romantic feelings that could trip him up, but his anxiety over the looming paternity test.
Isaiah Opens Up
Isaiah was refreshingly honest with Lucas, admitting just how much he hopes Portia’s baby turns out to be his. He’s clearly excited by the possibility of becoming a father and wants the paternity results just as badly as Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner).
At the same time, Isaiah shares some of Portia’s nerves — though for entirely different reasons. Portia doesn’t want to feel trapped in a future with Curtis, even though she’s still hoping the baby is his.
Isaiah, however, desperately wants the opposite outcome. He doesn’t want Curtis to be the father and seems fully prepared to build a life with Portia. It’s a complicated emotional web — and Lucas likely picked up on every bit of it.
Lucas Drops Subtle Clues
As Isaiah vented about the strain of dating his boss and feeling constantly scrutinized at work, Lucas clearly understood where he was coming from. While his own situation with Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) wasn’t identical, Lucas knew all too well what it’s like to be the subject of nonstop workplace gossip.
Brad caused plenty of chaos during their marriage, with the infamous baby swap ultimately destroying their relationship and leading to divorce. At the time, it was the scandal everyone at the hospital couldn’t stop talking about.
As Lucas empathized with Isaiah, it crossed my mind that he may soon open up even more and reveal the full extent of what Brad put him through — and that kind of insight could be incredibly valuable to Isaiah.
Brad Isn’t Gone for Good
Just because Brad hasn’t had much screen time lately — aside from his dine-and-dash moment with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) — doesn’t mean he’s out of the picture.
He appears to be lying low, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make a move, and that target may very well be Lucas’ new love interest, Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo).
If Lucas confides in Isaiah about Brad’s past manipulations, it could jog Isaiah’s memory about Portia’s own experience with Brad — especially when it comes to the blackmail she once endured.
While many fans assume Portia might eventually turn to Brad again to tamper with the paternity test, I’m starting to wonder if Isaiah could be the one who seeks him out instead.
