General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny’s Plot to Frame Sidwell – Will Marco’s Rage Boil Over?

General Hospital spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is growing desperate, fearing that his son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), could be accused of attempted murder. Sonny needs an alternative suspect, and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is already causing trouble for him.

Marco Emerges as a Threat

Sidwell’s son, Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo), is set to become a major problem for Sonny soon. Sonny may try to frame Sidwell for the shooting of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), unaware that Marco is already plotting against him. Earlier this week, Sonny vented to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), frustrated after she cast doubt on Michael during the court proceedings for Willow Cain’s (Katelyn MacMullen) attempted murder case.

While Alexis knows Willow is guilty, she prioritizes keeping Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante) safe and threw Michael under the bus to protect the child, enraging Sonny. Alexis even speculated that the DA might not pursue Michael, but Sonny is unconvinced. Acting District Attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) would jump at any chance to target Michael or his family, so Sonny feels he must find someone else to blame for the shooting.

Sonny’s Plan: Frame an Alternate Suspect

Sonny believes presenting another suspect to the police, including Acting Police Commissioner Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and DA Justine Turner, would take the heat off Michael. Dante would likely welcome an alternate suspect to avoid further investigating Michael. Although Alexis regrets putting Michael in a tough spot, she prioritizes Scout and is unlikely to participate in Sonny’s plan. Sonny may also keep Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) out of the loop.

Sonny’s strategy is essentially “killing two birds with one stone.” Even if Michael were guilty, framing someone else would free him. Since Sidwell is blackmailing Sonny and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), framing Sidwell solves multiple problems. If done correctly, Sidwell won’t realize Sonny is behind it, and the compromising photos he holds may never be used. By keeping Sidwell under scrutiny, Sonny and Laura could locate and destroy the photos, eliminating their leverage.

If successful, Sidwell either goes to prison for Drew’s attempted murder or flees Port Charles, freeing Sonny and Laura from his control. Michael also avoids being punished for a crime he didn’t commit, with Laura agreeing this is the best course of action.

Long-Term Stakes

Spoilers suggest this plan may tie into other 2026 storylines, including Laura’s efforts to protect Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Ace Cassadine (Kieran and Karis Barry). Sending them to Ireland is a temporary solution, but framing Sidwell could provide a more permanent fix.

Meanwhile, Marco’s growing hatred for Sonny could jeopardize his relationship with Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), indicating he may take extreme action. Marco is furious that Sidwell hasn’t dealt with Sonny, whom he blames for his mother Natalia Rogers-Ramirez’s (Eva LaRue) death. Marco’s desire for revenge could complicate Sonny’s plan.

Why Sidwell Is the Ideal Target

Sidwell is the perfect scapegoat for Drew’s shooting. He previously murdered Judge Eva Heran (Tessa Auberjoiois) to cover up his bribery scheme against Willow and her children, and he even practically confessed to Marco. Sonny had Brick (Stephen A. Smith) plant fake evidence to frame Drew for bribing the judge, showing a precedent for such schemes.

If Sonny discovers Sidwell’s bribery, it could result in multiple charges against him. Additionally, framing Sidwell ties Drew to the crime, making the congressman appear guilty by association. Sonny could claim Sidwell murdered the judge for Drew, and when Drew became a problem, Sidwell tried to eliminate him.

Jordan Ashford’s Role

Sidwell warned Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) that if Drew becomes linked to Portia Robinson’s (Brook Kerr) extortion case, he’d be disposable. Jordan is monitoring Sidwell undercover and reporting to Laura, aiming to expose him. If Sonny and Laura frame Sidwell for Drew’s shooting, Jordan could testify against him. However, Sidwell’s ties to the WSB and collaboration with Director Ross Callum on Cesar Faison’s research could interfere with their plans.

High Stakes Ahead

Marco remains a wild card, holding a grudge against Sonny and seeking revenge. Willow was found not guilty despite evidence, and Sonny is working with Justine, likely investigating one of his loved ones—possibly Michael. Sonny will need to act fast to present an alternate suspect to the PCPD, potentially targeting Sidwell, which would surely enrage Marco.
