General Hospital spoilers and updates raise an important question: with Willow Tait Cain’s (Katelyn MacMullen) trial getting underway, why are Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) present in the courtroom?
Even more puzzling, the weekly promo shows them seated on the same side as Willow and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Could this be the result of Drew using blackmail to manipulate the situation?
Courtroom Seating Raises Eyebrows
Courtrooms are divided into two sides: one to the judge’s left and the other to the right. One side is reserved for the prosecution, while the opposite side is for the defendant and their legal team, along with anyone supporting the accused.
The prosecution is always represented by the district attorney or someone from that office—here, Acting District Attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor). The defendant, Willow, and her attorney should therefore be seated on the opposite side, along with those aligned with her.
So why is Curtis—who has already been cleared as a suspect—sitting on Willow’s side? And why is Trina there as well, if Curtis himself is no longer under suspicion? Could Drew be pressuring them into providing misleading testimony or creating an alibi for Willow?
Why Not Sit With the Prosecution?
There appears to be plenty of room on the prosecution’s side of the courtroom for Curtis and Trina to sit—along with Kai Taylor (Jens Austin Astrup). It might make sense for Kai to be seated with the defense, given that he still works for Drew, even if reluctantly.
It would also be understandable for Trina to be there if she were accompanying Kai. However, Kai isn’t seen in the shot at all—yet Trina is seated beside Curtis. This is especially strange given that Curtis was officially ruled out as a suspect after traffic camera footage surfaced showing Willow driving near Drew’s house, visibly upset in the rain.
Still, viewers may recall the conversation Drew and Curtis had while Curtis was briefly in jail, when they discussed helping each other. Could Drew now be calling in that favor? And could Trina, along with Kai, be pressured into testifying that they were nearby at the time?
A Shaky Alibi and Lingering Questions
Willow’s alibi has already fallen apart, and the prosecution is aware of Curtis’ connection to Selina Wu (Lydia Look), leaving lingering doubts despite Curtis’ release. Before the traffic camera footage emerged, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) had planned to investigate the case more thoroughly.
There’s also the unresolved issue of whether Kai’s fingerprints may be on the baseball bat left behind at Drew’s house. It’s possible Drew saw Trina and Kai—or at least their car—when he returned home but didn’t think much of it at the time, especially if it appeared to belong to Kai.
Now, however, Drew may be using leverage to ensure Curtis and Trina help steer the trial in his favor.
