Coronation Street actress Vicky Myers, who plays DS Lisa Swain, has previously spoken about her challenging past, including her divorce and cancer diagnosis.

Coronation Street’s Vicky Myers has experienced her share of personal challenges off-screen, away from the spotlight of the ITV soap.
She rose to prominence playing DS Lisa Swain, who first appeared in 2021 to assist with the Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) rape investigation.
Since then, the dedicated detective has become a key member of the Coronation Street cast and a fan favourite. She has been central to many major storylines, including the recent Corriedale episode.
From solving murders and bringing criminals to justice, to even finding herself accused of murder, Lisa’s time in Weatherfield has been anything but uneventful.

Additionally, Lisa, who shares a daughter, Betsy (Sydney Martin), with her ex-wife Becky (Amy Cudden), has found love again with soap legend Carla Connor (Alison King), according to The Mirror.
Their romance, however, hasn’t been without challenges. Becky recently succeeded in creating tension between Lisa and Carla. Following this week’s dramatic Corriedale episode, Becky finally faced the consequences of her actions when she was arrested for her crimes.

Fans hoping for a reunion between Carla and Lisa were left disappointed, as tensions between the pair remain high. In Thursday’s episode (January 8), Lisa shared a heartfelt conversation with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) about her strained relationship with Carla.
Off-screen, Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa, has faced her own personal challenges. In 2010, she navigated the demands of single motherhood, and shortly afterward, a routine medical check-up for her nephew led to the unexpected discovery of a suspicious mark.
The diagnosis was skin cancer. While Vicky underwent reconstructive surgery, her former partner stepped in to care for their daughter, Meghan.

In a heartfelt 2024 interview with The Mirror, Vicky reflected on those difficult times, saying: “I don’t know if it’s because of my previous medical history, but I’m so proud to be here and just to be living each day to the fullest.”
She continued: “When my husband and I separated, I was quite down, bitter, and even vengeful. When I was told I had [cancer], I remember thinking, ‘If this is it for me, I’ve missed so much time with my daughter, and I haven’t really been the person I wanted to be.’”
Vicky added: “The diagnosis refocused me and made me concentrate on what truly matters and what brings me happiness. Now, every time I walk onto the set and see the Coronation Street sign, it’s incredibly overwhelming.”
