Ex-Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan reveals details of her relationships with TOWIE’s James Argent and X Factor winner James Arthur in her revealing new memoir.

Actress Helen Flanagan has revealed details about her romance with former TOWIE favourite James Argent, as well as a memorable encounter with a famous X Factor star. The 35-year-old has also opened up about behind-the-scenes tensions during her time on Coronation Street and her stint on Channel 5’s reality show, Celebrity Super Spa.
Helen appeared on the programme alongside TOWIE’s James Argent, celebrity chefs Rusty Lee and John Burton-Race, Shameless actor Jody Latham, and Most Haunted’s Yvette Fielding. The 2013 series followed six celebrities working at a real spa in Liverpool.
In her tell-all autobiography, Head and Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie, Helen shares candid insights into her romantic relationships both on-screen and off.

The former Coronation Street star, who shares three children with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair, opened up about her bond with TOWIE star James ‘Arg’ Argent while filming the show, according to the Mirror. She admitted:
“I became really good friends with James ‘Arg’ Argent from The Only Way Is Essex, and we spent all our time together.
“I know the producers were hoping for a romance to spark on-screen, and they’d try to nudge me towards him, dropping hints like, ‘Ah, you and Arg are so cute together…’ But I was still mixed up about Scott and wasn’t even sure if I fancied Arg, though I did like him a lot.
“He definitely wasn’t my usual type. I usually went for sporty guys who cared about health and fitness, whereas Arg would eat four Greggs sausage rolls for breakfast.”

“I think he was probably more into me than I was into him, but there was a brief spark between us that felt… unusual. We were in my hotel room, lounging on the bed while he stroked my back – it could have gone further then, but something held me back.
“When that moment passed, it felt like it was done. I hadn’t moved on from Scott, so using Arg as a rebound would have been a mistake.”
Helen also recounted a flirtatious encounter with former The X Factor winner James Arthur: “Afterward, I was scheduled to appear on a BBC Three comedy panel show called Sweat the Small Stuff, hosted by Nick Grimshaw with Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom as team captains.

“The episode I appeared in also featured James Arthur, who won The X Factor in 2012, and let’s just say we… clicked. Encouraged by Grimmy, James and I flirted openly during filming and exchanged numbers, loosely planning to meet for a drink sometime soon.
“Nothing ever went beyond some harmless WhatsApp messages, but when the episode aired a few days later, the press jumped on it and churned out multiple stories claiming we were a couple.”
The Celebs Go Dating star continued: “Scott was furious and tried everything to get in touch, calling my mobile and even ringing my parents’ landline.
“I didn’t want to speak to him. He had been so cruel, and I was trying to move on, which I felt I was making good progress with.”
Helen ended her “toxic” relationship with footballer Scott Sinclair in October 2022 after 13 years together. The pair share three children – Matilda, Delilah, and Charlie. Following her split from Scott, Helen entered a “situationship” with boxer David Hayes.
Although she initially met David on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2012, romance didn’t develop until 11 years later, with their brief relationship ending in December 2023. She also revealed that she rejected advances from disgraced influencer Andrew Tate after connecting with him on a dating app.
The actress first gained fame as a child star on Coronation Street, playing the rebellious Rosie Webster. Now a mother-of-three, Helen works as an influencer and model, and has appeared on reality shows including Celebs Go Dating.
Helen, known for playing Rosie Webster on the ITV soap, also spoke about a clash with her Coronation Street co-star Ryan Thomas around the time she left the show. She admitted that during a heated moment on set, she told him to “f*** off” before deciding to depart permanently.
