She first appeared on the ITV soap back in 1989 and, as the ruthless, scheming queen of the village, has been at the centre of numerous major storylines.
From her countless feuds across the Dales to even faking her own death, Kim’s time on the show has been full of drama.
She has also been involved in several high-profile romances, including her affair and marriage to Frank Tate (Norman Bowler) and her relationship with Will Taylor (Dean Andrews), who tragically died in 2024.
This week on the soap, Kim’s world was turned upside down by the return of her former flame and ex-husband, Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough). Fans will remember that Graham was thought to have been killed six years ago, with Kim once considered a suspect.
To Kim’s shock, Graham revealed that he had faked his death and has been working as a hitman all this time. In Thursday’s episode (January 29), the repercussions of Graham’s return continued, as Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) opened up to Kim about his feelings toward his father figure, Graham.
Amid all the current drama on the show, some fans have been wondering about Kim’s age. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Kim looks so good, how old is she now?”
Another fan responded: “Kim’s 67, Claire King is 64.” A third added: “67?! No way!” while another wrote: “She looks amazing for 67.” A fifth fan speculated: “Just a few years off 70? That’s mind-blowing.”
In reality, Kim was born on 19 January 1959, while actress Claire King was born on 10 January 1962.
This comes after Claire King, who plays Kim, responded to fan speculation that her character could be leaving the show nearly 40 years after her debut. She told The Mirror: “From my perspective, I would like to stay on Emmerdale.
“But they may already have plans to write me out! I’ve seen headlines like ‘Kim’s fate is doomed,’ but nothing like that appears in the scripts. That’s why I never pay attention to social media.”
