Kevin Webster, portrayed by Michael Le Vell, has been a mainstay on Coronation Street since 1983

Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster is undoubtedly a legend of the cobbles, but just how old is the character?
Kevin (played by Michael Le Vell) first appeared on the long-running ITV soap back in 1983, arriving as Hilda Ogden’s (Jean Alexander) lodger.
He quickly became a fan favourite, establishing himself as a true soap icon. Over the years, Kevin has been at the centre of several major storylines.
From his marriage and family life with ex-wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) and their daughters Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent), to his recent romance with Abi (Sally Carman), Kevin’s time in Weatherfield has been packed with drama.

Especially lately, Kevin has been having a really tough time following the breakdown of his marriage, after his wife Abi (Sally Carman) cheated on him with his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard).
On top of that, he has also had to cope with his sister Debbie’s (Sue Devaney) dementia diagnosis and her impending prison sentence, after she pleaded guilty to dangerous driving that led to the death of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) in the dramatic Corriedale storyline.

Meanwhile, amid all the drama, some fans have been curious about Kevin’s age. The character was born on 3 September 1965, making him 60, while actor Michael Le Vell was born on 15 December 1964 and will turn 62 later this year.
“Always thought he looked younger than he is,” commented one fan on a Coronation Street Facebook page. Another added: “Aw, I didn’t know that, bless him.” A third wrote: “He cleans up really well in real life.”

This comes after actor Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin, revealed he “breathed a sigh of relief” upon receiving a new Coronation Street contract. He told The Mirror: “You can never take the job for granted. My contract was due in January, and I’ve just been offered a new one, so I can relax for another year.
“But you can never assume it will continue. They might say, ‘You know what, we don’t have any storylines for you anymore. Thank you and goodbye.’ That’s just the nature of the business.”
