General Hospital star Laura Wright might not want to revisit this moment, but thanks to a current social media trend, the internet is taking her on a little trip down memory lane.
The 2016 challenge, circulating online, encourages everyone to look back at posts and memories from ten years ago. For Laura, best known as Carly Corinthos on the hit ABC soap, the reflection shows a very different version of herself than the woman she is today—at least in her own eyes.
Sharing a few throwback photos from a decade ago, Laura wrote on Instagram: “Wow, looking back at 2016… All I see is how badly I wanted to feel on the inside what I was pretending on the outside – it was definitely a transitional time for me. But check out the last photo from the beginning of 2017.”
She added with a laugh: “I love that I can clearly see that something shifted. Maybe it’s that I found Botox and filters ha ha ha ha. I’m super grateful for it all!!!! Let’s go 2026 forward motion baby!!!!!”
Laura’s post drew plenty of responses from fans in her comments section. One wrote: “You made it to the other side stronger than ever, and you’re living a beautiful and super intentional life! Brava, my friend!”
Another fan commented: “Love your hair short! Love it at every length, but you have a certain glow when it’s short!”
And one shared a personal story: “One of the best compliments I’ve gotten is when my son said, ‘Mom, your haircut looks like Carly’s….’ Made my day. I also love that I’ve watched GH for so long—he knows the characters without sitting down to watch.”
While Laura may see a very different woman in her 2016 photos, her fans still recognize the same Laura Wright they’ve always admired: beautiful, warm, intelligent, and incredibly talented.
