Soap fans fear Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw may be heading for a heartbreaking exit
Coronation Street viewers fear Todd Grimshaw could be killed off in a devastating murder storyline.
Earlier this year, Todd began a relationship with newcomer Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). However, in recent months, the plot has taken a darker turn as the soap explores domestic abuse within a same-sex relationship.
The situation has escalated into physical violence on multiple occasions, leaving Todd terrified and forcing him to install hidden surveillance cameras in their flat to secretly record Theo’s behaviour.
This week, Coronation Street aired a special episode told through a series of recording devices, including Todd’s covert camera, CCTV footage, dashcam clips, video doorbell recordings and police body-worn cameras.
During the distressing episode, tensions between Todd and Theo reached breaking point when Todd attempted to protect himself and pushed Theo, causing him to fall into a coffee table and collapse, seemingly lifeless.
Police soon arrived at the scene, with Todd taken in for questioning while Theo was rushed to hospital. Despite what had really happened, Todd chose not to reveal the truth, maintaining that it had been a tragic accident. In a shocking turn, Theo was treated as the victim, with officers even providing him with domestic abuse support leaflets.
The situation became even more sinister when Theo discovered the surveillance equipment Todd had secretly set up. In Tuesday’s episode (December 16), Theo continued to manipulate and gaslight Todd, even though Todd insisted he wanted to end the relationship.
George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) later visited the couple to discuss the previous night’s incident. However, Theo twisted the narrative, portraying the altercation as nothing more than an accident — a version of events Todd reluctantly backed up.
Theo then sank to a disturbing new low by editing the footage of the fight to make it appear as though Todd was entirely to blame.
With Theo’s reign of terror showing no signs of stopping, viewers fear it could ultimately end in Todd’s tragic death. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one fan wrote: “Theo’s going to kill Todd, isn’t he?”
Another added: “I was thinking the same — like what happened with Chantelle in EastEnders.” A third commented: “Oh no, not Todd! I’d be absolutely devastated if he killed him.” Meanwhile, someone else shared: “You never know where they’ll take this storyline. It’s definitely possible.”
