ITV Emmerdale viewers spot Ray detail that ‘doesn’t add up’

Posted on December 29, 2025

Emmerdale villain Ray Walters arrived earlier this year and has featured in a gripping storyline.

Emmerdale fans have noticed a major Ray Walters detail that ‘doesn’t make sense’ on the popular ITV soap.

Drug dealer Ray, played by Joe Absolom, made his first appearance in the village earlier this year after Mackenzie Boyd approached him to purchase a weed crop found at Lewis Barton’s house.

However, when the meeting took place, Ray encountered Robert Sugden instead. Secretly, Robert had stolen the cannabis plants from Mackenzie, Lewis, and Ross Barton, and sold them to Ray behind their backs.

Ray was keen for more drugs, but Robert claimed it was a one-time deal. Undeterred, Ray even sent his ‘employees’ Dylan Penders and another accomplice to Butlers Farm to search for more drugs or other items, suspecting Robert might be lying.

Since then, Ray’s true villainous nature has been revealed, alongside his mother’s, who was unveiled as Celia Daniels.

Ray and Celia have been exploiting Dylan and April Windsor, claiming it’s to repay their so-called “debts,” in reality grooming them into drug dealing.

The storyline darkened when Celia pressured April into taking part in two prostitution jobs. April refused to sleep with the clients and ended up attacking one of them.

Believing she had killed the person, April became even more manipulated by Ray and Celia, who were aware the client had survived.

Recently, Ray has started a relationship with Laurel Thomas, even spending Christmas Day with her and her family. As their romance develops, viewers have noticed a detail that ‘doesn’t make sense.’

Fans are questioning why no one has warned Laurel that Ray is a drug dealer, particularly since both Mackenzie and Robert know his true nature.

On social media, one viewer commented: “Ray first showed up as the buyer for the weed in Moira’s barn. He was contacted by Ross, Mack, or Lewis. So why hasn’t anyone warned Laurel about what he really is?”

Another account replied: “That’s a very good point,” while someone else added: “Surely Robert has seen Ray since. Or even Mac.” Another fan said: “I had forgotten that, but you’re right. Makes no sense.”

Elsewhere, a soap watcher remarked: “Ray has been in the coffee shop, so Lewis must have seen him—he was the one who started the whole cannabis situation!” Another fan wrote: “Excellent point!” and someone else added: “That is a really good point!! X.”

However, some viewers offered a different perspective: “Probably because it was only weed; they might not know the full extent of what he’s involved in,” while another added: “Because it’s just weed, I doubt they know he has April selling drugs or that he’s involved with Paddy’s dad.”
