Tributes have poured in for David Rapp, who tragically passed away just days after his father, EastEnders icon Derek Martin, who died last week at 92.
The son of EastEnders legend Derek Martin, who passed away last week at the age of 92, has also tragically died just days after his famous father.
David Rapp was the child of the acting icon, best known for his role as Charlie Slater on the popular BBC soap. BBB Agency confirmed David’s death in a heartfelt social media post on January 20.
The post read: “Devastating news today. Just after losing his father, David has also passed away. The gentle giant whose heart was as big as he was. I couldn’t have wished for a better friend or workmate. Rest in peace, David Rapp — you will be missed! BBB HQ will never be the same.”
David worked for the talent agency, which represents a range of TV personalities, models, and musicians across Scotland.
Just last week, BBB’s social media account shared a tribute to David’s father, Derek, saying: *”Condolences to our David on the passing of his dad, Derek.
David will be taking a little time out right now. Sending love and prayers from the entire BBB Family.”*
The cause of David’s death has not yet been revealed, according to the Express.
Derek’s death was announced on January 11, with his family sharing the news through his agent, Sharon Henry.
They said: *”Derek wasn’t just a father to us — he was a friend who supported us through life’s highs and lows. He never stopped learning, loved meeting new people, and was always generous with his time. We both miss him deeply.
The family ask for privacy during this difficult time.”*
His representative added: *”It was an honor to be part of his creative journey, which included notable roles in Law and Order for the BBC and two series of The Governor, produced by La Plante Productions.
He is perhaps best known for his role on EastEnders, where he truly cherished portraying Charlie Slater.”*
