Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has confirmed the future of her character, Mandy Dingle, after being absent from the ITV soap recently.
Lisa, 49, appeared on the latest series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, and Mandy was temporarily written out to align with her time in the Australian jungle.
At the end of last year, viewers saw Mandy leave the village to stay with relatives in Ireland.
During her short absence, dramatic storylines have shaken the village, leaving her on-screen family devastated. Recently, Mandy’s father-in-law, Bear Wolf, was held captive by Ray Walters and Celia Daniels in a modern slavery plot.
After Ray murdered his domineering mother, Celia, Bear killed Ray, who had taken his son Paddy Kirk and Dylan Penders hostage.
In scenes airing this week, Mandy, Paddy’s wife, returns unexpectedly and is stunned to see a heavy police presence after Bear’s arrest.
Things quickly escalate when both Paddy and Dylan are taken to the police station for questioning during Mandy’s chaotic return. As Paddy departs with the officers, he asks Dylan and Marlon Dingle to fill Mandy in on everything, which is sure to leave her reeling.
Meanwhile, fans can expect plenty more Mandy on screen, as Lisa Riley has recently confirmed her future on the ITV soap.
Speaking to The Sun, Lisa said: “I’ve had some very flattering TV offers, including projects where I could do impressions like I did in Australia. Hopefully, Ginge and I will work together again, as long as it fits around my Emmerdale schedule.”
She added: “That’s where my heart is — I love working there. I never take it for granted, and as long as the Emmerdale producers want me, I want to stay.
“I’ve just signed a new one-year contract. Any extra work I take on would have to fit around my Emmerdale commitments.”
