Are Emmerdale and Coronation Street airing tonight? ITV shakes up its soap schedule

Posted on February 4, 2026

ITV has made changes to the schedules for Emmerdale and Coronation Street

Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans will be disappointed this evening, Tuesday 3 February, as both soaps are affected by a schedule shake-up.

Earlier this year, a new ITV soap schedule saw Emmerdale airing weeknights at 8 pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30 pm, creating a “soap super hour.”

However, on Tuesday night, both shows have been pushed back to make way for live football. The EFL Cup match between Arsenal and Chelsea will air from 7:30 pm to 10:25 pm, with kick-off at 8 pm.

Fans have taken to Twitter (now X) to share their reactions to the change.

One viewer commented: “I don’t understand why, when they insist on showing football on ITV, they don’t put the soaps on ITV2. At least both sets of fans are happy. #itv #emmerdale #corrie.”

Another account added: “For the 2nd time in 2026, football takes priority over the soaps, and both @emmerdale #Emmerdale & @itvcorrie #Corrie get bumped from the schedule. When this used to happen, there’d also be extra shows the next day, but that’s changed too.”

Meanwhile, another fan wrote: “No #Emmerdale or #Corrie tonight due to football on ITV. They’re both back as normal tomorrow night.”

Soap viewers will be keen to catch up after Monday’s Emmerdale episode, which saw favourite Moira Dingle arrested and charged with two murders despite her innocence.

In the episode, Moira and Cain Dingle were shocked when police arrested them in front of their children. At the station, Cain stayed silent during questioning and was released without facing any charges.

Moira, however, consistently insisted that Celia Daniels had set her up, only to be devastated when DS Walsh revealed that Celia was, in fact, one of the deceased.

Fans will remember that Celia had held Bear Wolf and other victims, including Anya, captive on her farm as part of a modern slavery plot and had refused to provide Anya with medical attention.

When Anya tragically died, Celia and her son Ray Walters forced Bear to bury her on Moira’s farmland. Recently, Ray killed his mother Celia, burying her next to Anya, while Bear killed Ray in self-defence when he tried to attack his son, Paddy Kirk.

On Monday, Moira began to panic as she realised the overwhelming amount of evidence against her. The situation worsened when it emerged that one of the victims had been covered with her own blanket.

Things took an even darker turn when DS Walsh revealed that Moira’s DNA had been found on the blanket covering Anya, leaving her completely shocked as she was formally charged with the murders of both Celia and Anya.
