Coronation Street viewers have been questioning Aggie Bailey’s whereabouts, and the character was finally referenced during the ITV soap’s Boxing Day episode.

ITV soap Coronation Street has offered an update on the whereabouts of “missing” Aggie Bailey. The character, played by Lorna Laidlaw, has not been seen on the cobbles since 2023. Initially, viewers were given a believable explanation for Aggie’s absence following her departure.
However, with the Bailey family — including husband Ed, sons Michael and James, and daughter Dee-Dee — featuring heavily in major storylines, fans have been left questioning where the family matriarch is and whether she will make a return.
During Corrie’s Boxing Day episode, now available to stream on ITVX, Michael (Ryan Russell) revealed that Aggie had sent both him and James (Nathan Graham) matching silver chains as Christmas presents.

After spotting the jewellery, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) remarked to Michael: “I’ve seen one of those before.”
James then explained: “Yeah, me and Michael both got them for Christmas from our mum.”
When Abi went quiet following the revelation, Michael checked in to see if she was alright, and she quickly assured him that everything was fine.
Viewers will remember that Abi previously discovered the very same necklace in the flat she shares with Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

When Abi confronted her partner about why James’s necklace was in their flat, Carl lied and claimed that he and James were involved in a dodgy car deal.
However, Abi later managed to get hold of Carl’s phone, where she uncovered explicit messages between him and James, exposing their affair and leaving her completely stunned.
Carl and James have been carrying on a secret relationship behind Abi’s back for months, but viewers will have to wait and see what the future holds for the pair.

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, the identity of Daniel Osbourne’s (Rob Mallard) attacker was finally revealed — and it came with a shocking twist.
Will Driscoll, in a jealous rage, assaulted the teacher (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) on Christmas Day, leaving him for dead.
Viewers are aware that Will’s anger stems from being groomed and abused by his coach, Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), who is publicly dating Daniel to cover up her appalling crimes.
From the Rovers’ window, Maggie Driscoll secretly took Daniel’s watch and wallet, staging it to look like a random robbery to protect her grandson Will. She then went on to frame someone else for the attack after spending the night at the Chariot Square Hotel.
