Coronation Street: Summer’s death ‘confirmed’ after nine years in shocking Theo twist

Posted on January 1, 2026

Coronation Street’s Summer Spellman faces a devastating departure

Coronation Street viewers are increasingly worried that Summer Spellman could be killed off, with Theo Silverton being blamed for her possible fate. Theo (James Cartwright) arrived on the cobbles earlier this year as Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) new love interest, and their chemistry was instant. However, it soon became clear that Theo was not who he first appeared to be.

Over the past few months, Theo has subjected Todd to ongoing manipulation and abuse in an attempt to control every part of his life. At first, the abuse was largely psychological, but it later escalated into physical violence. Disturbing scenes have included Theo forcing Todd to eat a kebab and a shocking incident where he slammed Todd’s face into a mirror.

What’s more, just days ago, Theo forced Todd to travel miles and then walk home in freezing temperatures without a jacket. This week, Theo pushed Todd to prove the depth of his love, prompting Todd to propose — and Theo accepted.

Todd’s family and friends were thrilled by the engagement, including his stepdaughter, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby). However, his friend and ex, Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), began to sense that something wasn’t right

In Thursday’s episode (January 1), Billy and Summer visited Todd and Theo’s flat to talk about the wedding, with Summer telling Theo she wanted to be his bridesmaid.

However, after Summer accidentally spilled a cup of tea on the carpet, a terrified Todd quickly ushered her and Billy out, leaving Theo to force him to clean up the mess. Feeling humiliated by Summer’s bridesmaid remark, Theo then took out his anger on Todd, brutally attacking him while he lay on the floor.

Although Billy’s exit is expected to air in the coming weeks — with fans fearing Theo might kill him off — some viewers are now worried that Summer could be the one facing a shocking death instead.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one user speculated: “What if Summer gets caught up between Theo and Todd and Theo accidentally kills her?”

Another added: “That could happen.” A third commented: “I do think something will happen to her as well as Billy, to be honest.” Meanwhile, a heartbroken fan wrote: “That would be so sad.”
