Emmerdale actress Georgia Jay, who stepped away from the ITV soap earlier this year to begin maternity leave as her character headed to Rome, has confirmed the birth of her baby daughter and revealed her beautiful name. The 33-year-old joined the soap in November 2024, taking on the role of Steph Miligan, the estranged daughter of Ruby (Beth Cordingly) and Caleb Miligan (William Ash).
Soon after her arrival, Steph became caught up in a devastating family secret when her beloved grandfather, Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), was revealed to be her biological father. The shocking truth exposed years of sexual abuse inflicted by Anthony on his own daughter, Ruby. The revelation caused Steph’s mental health to deteriorate as she struggled to come to terms with what she had learned. Haunted by the trauma, she began seeing Anthony’s face reflected back at her and kept her fears hidden from her parents.

In a heartbreaking attempt to escape the haunting visions of Anthony, Steph even tried to undergo plastic surgery to change her appearance, despite her grandfather having already been murdered by that point. After weeks of soul-searching and the breakdown of her relationship with Ross Barton (Mike Parr), Steph booked a flight to Rome, announcing she was heading off to travel and would return in the future.
Away from Emmerdale, Georgia Jay, who portrays Steph, went on maternity leave from the ITV soap. On New Year’s Eve, Georgia shared the happy news on Instagram, revealing she had welcomed her baby daughter in June 2025 and named her Nora.
Sharing the first photo of her daughter, Georgia is seen cuddling her baby in a tender embrace. She captioned the post: “Nora 🌹 June 2025 📸 @anyavtilden.”
Georgia’s Emmerdale co-stars were quick to send their love, with Beth Cordingly commenting: “You are perfect and so is she. Love you x.” Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa, added: “Gorgeous,” while Laura Norton, known for her role as Kerry Wyatt, wrote: “Yay, congrats gorgeous.”
Georgia announced her pregnancy in June, the same month she welcomed her daughter, sharing a beautiful maternity photo on Instagram after Emmerdale viewers had begun to notice her baby bump on screen.

She wrote in the caption: “As you may have already guessed, I’ve got some news to share. I know some of you have been wondering whether you’ve spotted a small bump on screen recently.”
She went on to confirm the joyful rumours, adding: “It’s not just your imagination — I’m expecting a baby! We couldn’t be more excited, and a little nervous too. Thank you so much for all the love and support.”
