Fans think they know who killed Ray Walters, though a surprise twist could still await

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that Bear Wolf did not actually kill Ray Walters — and believe they have proof to support their theory.
Earlier this year, Ray (Joe Absolom) was killed by one of the village residents, sparking a major whodunnit storyline on the long-running ITV soap. This week featured a series of flashback episodes revealing what various characters were doing in the moments leading up to Ray’s violent death.
Thursday’s episode (January 22) delivered a huge shock by revealing that Bear (Joshua Richards) was still alive, weeks after viewers had been led to believe he had died. The former wrestler was thought to have been killed by the sinister Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), who was later murdered by her own son, Ray.
However, during a tense showdown involving Ray, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and Dylan Sanders (Fred Kettle), Bear made a dramatic reappearance, desperately attempting to stop Ray from killing both Paddy and Dylan.

Taking charge of the situation, Bear grabbed Ray and forced his arm against the villain’s throat. Moments later, it appeared that Bear had accidentally killed Ray, who went limp and fell to the ground, reports OK!.
Friday’s episode (January 23) then saw a panicked Paddy, Bear and Dylan confronted with the grim task of disposing of the body. However, some viewers believe another shocking twist could still be waiting in the storyline.

Social media users have speculated that the former wrestler didn’t actually kill Ray, noting that he had used a wrestling move. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: “I still don’t think Bear killed Ray. That’s just a sleeper hold from wrestling.”
Another commented: “Exactly what I thought. I’ve watched wrestling long enough to know that a sleeper hold wouldn’t kill someone.”
A fellow fan added: “As a WWE fan, I agree — a sleeper hold can’t actually kill. But this is Emmerdale, lol, you know how the writers are.” A third viewer simply echoed: “That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

Reflecting on his character Ray’s exit, actor Joe said he “loved it and could easily have stayed forever.”
Speaking to the Mirror, he added: “It’s been great, and I’m definitely feeling a bit of the blues. That’s a compliment to Emmerdale — it’s been such a wonderful, positive place to work, and I’m really going to miss it.”
He went on: “As a working actor, there’s always that underlying fear about finding the next role. It can be really daunting not knowing what’s coming next.”
