Michelle Hardwick stars as Vanessa Woodfield on ITV’s Emmerdale

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick was quick to commend her Coronation Street co-star on Monday following a powerful episode.

The hit ITV soap aired a special episode on Monday focusing on Todd Grimshaw and Theo Silverton amid their harrowing domestic abuse storyline.

The entire episode was presented through the perspective of various cameras, including Todd’s hidden camera, CCTV, dashcam, video doorbell, and police bodycams, with a series of flashbacks revealing the shocking reality of what happens behind closed doors.

The episode concluded with Todd being arrested after defending himself against the cruel Theo. When the couple returned home from the police station, Theo discovered Todd’s hidden camera, leaving viewers with a chilling cliffhanger.

Soap fans quickly praised Monday night’s episode, particularly actors Gareth Pierce and James Cartwright, who play Todd and Theo, insisting that the ITV soap deserved all the awards.

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick, 49, who is married to Coronation Street executive producer Kate Brooks, was quick to praise her wife on Monday night following the powerful and hard-hitting episode.

Michelle, who plays Vanessa Woodfield on Emmerdale and has been married to Kate since 2019, shared a heartfelt message to her wife on Instagram.

She wrote: “Ok, proud wife alert here. If you haven’t seen tonight’s episode of @coronationstreet, make sure to catch it on ITVX. ‘What about an episode through the cameras in the house, will it work?’ Yes, Kate Brooks, it absolutely did. From your brilliant idea, to @ijkershaw’s incredible writing, and the unbelievably talented @matthiltondir directing — what an amazing team.”

“Not forgetting the amazing @garpierce and James Cartwright. The talent. A hard watch. An important watch. Proud of you @thekatebrooks” ❤️

Fans quickly took to the comments to praise the episode. One wrote: “Outstanding episode!! Such superb acting xxx”, while another added: “This storyline has been a very difficult watch, and tonight’s episode was so powerful. Well done.” A third fan said: “I give this episode 10/10. I just wished it had been longer!”

Elsewhere, a viewer commented: “Brilliant episode. Heartbreaking though. Both actors played their parts so well.” Another said: “Absolutely agree — so hard to watch but incredibly important. If it helps even one person walk away from an abusive relationship, it’s worth it.”

Meanwhile, a different fan added: “I was completely gripped! Incredible! Kate really has changed Corrie for the better. She truly deserves all the praise. Well done, Queen KB.”

As for what happens next on the cobbles, it remains to be seen, but some viewers believe they’ve already spotted Theo’s downfall…
