Kylie Minogue leaves BBC viewers mesmerized just minutes into her Strictly performance

Posted on December 16, 2025

The latest Strictly results show included a live performance by Kylie Minogue

Viewers of the Strictly Come Dancing results show were left divided over musical guest Kylie Minogue, who performed her latest Christmas single, titled “Xmas.”

The 57-year-old pop star’s festive track was criticised as a potential chart flop, while the professional dancers joined her for a lively routine.

Fans took to X to share their disappointment. One wrote: “That Christmas song from Kylie is a bit irritating.” Another added: “Sorry, Kylie, this song is annoying. #Xmas You’re looking great though,” according to the Express.

A third fan made a bold prediction: “Unless you listen to Radio 2, you will never hear that Kylie Christmas song again.”

Despite the criticism, the Australian pop legend received some support, with one fan posting: “Has #Kylie pulled off that rare feat and released a breakthrough Christmas song? I could see that XMAS dance going viral.”

Another wrote: “Am I the only person who loved both Kylie and James’ performances tonight??”

Commenting on Kylie’s ageless look, a fan added: “Kylie never ages… I mean, she’s 57.”

Kylie’s presence added to an impressive Australian representation in the Strictly studios this weekend.

Neighbours star Stefan Dennis, who had to withdraw from the competition due to injury, had flown back from Australia, reuniting with his professional partner, fellow Aussie Dianne Buswell. Meanwhile, EastEnders’ Balvinder Sapal’s professional partner, Julian Caillon, also from Australia, revealed that his mother had flown in specifically for the weekend to attend the show.

As Kylie performed, the four remaining couples nervously awaited their results, each hoping to secure a place in the final and avoid the dreaded dance-off.

By the end of Saturday night’s live show, Karen Carney and Carlos Gu led the leaderboard, earning scores of 39 for both their first and second dances, giving them a combined total of 78.

West End star Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin followed closely in second place, scoring 37 and 40 for a total of 77. George Clarke and Alexis Warr scored 35 and 37, totalling 72 and placing them third.

Despite receiving glowing feedback from the judges, EastEnders’ Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon scored 35 for both dances, bringing their total to 70 and placing them at the bottom of the leaderboard.
