Fans have rallied around a Coronation Street star after they revealed a frightening health struggle.

A Coronation Street star received an outpouring of support from fans after opening up about his frightening stroke ordeal.
Chris Fountain joined the iconic ITV soap in 2011, playing Tommy Duckworth, the grandson of the beloved Jack (Bill Tarmey).
During his time on the cobbles, Chris was involved in several major storylines, including his turbulent relationship with his manipulative father Terry (Nigel Pivaro) and his romance with Tina McIntyre, played by Michelle Keegan.
However, in 2013, Chris was written out of the show after offensive videos surfaced of him rapping under his alias, The Phantom. Following the revelation of the footage, which shocked viewers, Chris issued a heartfelt apology.

Years later, Chris suffered a mini stroke in August 2022 and was hospitalised for five days in London after waking up at home with slurred speech, according to the Mirror.
At the time, he revealed he was terrified that “life as he knew it” was over when doctors diagnosed him with a Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) caused by a blood clot blocking blood flow to his brain.
Further medical tests revealed that Chris had a hole in his heart. In May 2023, he announced that he had undergone cardiac surgery, saying: “Hopefully, that should mean no more strokes and I’ll have a little bionic heart.”
On Thursday (January 29), Chris shared a heartfelt tribute to mark Stroke Prevention Day. The actor took to Instagram to post a series of images from his recovery journey, including a powerful hospital photo showing him confined to bed.
In his caption, he wrote: “Back in August 2022, I had a stroke. I was terrified. I’m so grateful to my family and friends who supported me through that difficult time. I wouldn’t wish anyone to experience what I went through.”

He added: “There are steps you can take to help prevent stroke, and with today being Stroke Prevention Day, I want to highlight one important measure. High blood pressure is the leading risk factor for stroke, responsible for around half of all cases.”
The star continued: “This #StrokePreventionDay, I’m proud to support @thestrokeassociation and encourage everyone to check their blood pressure — helping to stop strokes before they happen. Learn more at stroke.org.uk/stroke-prevention-day.”
Fans quickly flooded the post with messages of support. One wrote: “The comeback is always stronger than the setback. Proud of you.” Another added: “So glad you’re doing so well now — and now you can help others recognize the signs too.” A third commented: “Sending you lots of love. You’re amazing! Always have been.”
